Equine Therapy and Therapeutic Riding benefit both the physical and nervous systems and can be directed to a specific function or group of functions that need to be stimulated as a whole, progressing according to individual requirements.
The type of horse, its training and care are essential for equine therapy, firstly for safety and secondly for the rhythmic and harmonious movement transmitted to the patient.
The patient actively participates in the rehabilitation process through interaction with the horse.

Horseback riding rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human's gait. Riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength through horseback riding.
Emotional and psychological benefits include increased self-esteem, communication skills, and trust. We serve children with many diagnoses, including: (ADHD), Autism, language disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and social and emotional issues.
We offer a beginning "Love of Horses" to children ages 5 to 17!
Horses make wonderful childhood companions. Children are naturally attracted to them, and that makes horses a desirable alternative to TV, Internet-surfing, or “hanging out.”
Horseback riding also puts children in touch with nature, and can be enjoyed alone or in groups. Handling, riding, and caring for a horse can develop many positive traits in a child, including responsibility, accountability, patience, empathy, kindness, and self-discipline.
From grooming and handling to proper body position, from obstacle courses to trail rides, Reining Heroes is a fun, educational place for kids.
Reining Heroes provides opportunities to use Therapeutic Riding to assist adolescents suffering from depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and relationship problems.
In 2008 a pilot study was conducted on equine therapy for troubled youth. 13 teenagers took part in a program with an Equine Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) certified instructor, and found that, after working with the horses, the teenagers were less angry and aggressive, improved their relationships with their parents and peers and had fewer suicidal tendencies.
Therapeutic riding can benefit those who have served our country's armed forces and are experiencing mental and emotional health issues or have incurred traumatic injuries (physical or mental) sustained in the line of duty.
Horses provide reflective opportunities that can meet treatment goals for mental health disorders such as anxiety, mood, behavioral difficulties and PTSD. It also promotes personal exploration of feelings and behaviors, and allows for clinical interpretation. We provide experiential equine activities such as handling, grooming, longeing and riding, that provide the client with opportunities to enhance self-awareness and re-pattern maladaptive behaviors, feeling and attitudes.
